This set of vintage tennis racquets show the fine wood quality that made Spalding one of the finest makers of these racquets as well as other sports equipment during the 1940's. Beautifully made with a laminated wood and welded fibre strings, these racquets have been in our family since purchased new in the 1940's. They feature the original black wound grip tape handles and each has the original Spalding stickers still adhered to the surface. Each of these have a pressure racquet head holder with the metal one an original Spalding and the wooden one from Taiwan, which also has the original red cloth cover. Each racquet measures 27'' long with 1-1/2'' wide by 1-1/4'' thick handles and the heads are 12'' long by 9'' wide. The strings are the original and are amazingly intact and tight on the racquet head with no warping noted. The green/beige racquet is marked Spalding Ardmore, 1876 AG Spalding & Bros. The dark brown/beige one is marked Spalding Olympic, 1876 AG Spalding & Bros. In exceptionally good condition. Price is for the pair which includes the racquet head braces.
